Spanish supermarket chain Sabeco, a subsidiary of French retailer Auchan, is to build a food distribution centre in Miranda de Ebro, northern Spain.
The 46,000 sq m centre is expected to be completed within seven months and will initially create 118 jobs. This number will later be increased to 150.
The centre will supply Sabeco’s supermarkets in northern Spain, in the regions of La Rioja, Cantabria, Asturias, the Basque Country and the northern part of Castille-Leon.
Sabeco plans to invest €59.7m (US$68.3m) in the opening of 20 supermarkets in 2003, reported the Spanish News Digest.
