Carrefour has bought five stores in Spain from local retailer Supermercados de Madrid as the French retail giant looks to expand its Carrefour Express chain in the country.
The world’s second-largest retailer has acquired three stores in Madrid and two in the towns of Algete and Coslada, deals that take its Carrefour Express network to 107 outlets.

Carrefour claimed its Express stores in Spain sell products for 5% less than the retailer’s competitors in the country.
