Spanish food group Ebro Puleva has insisted that it is interested in acquiring the household rice unit of SOS Corporación Alimentaria – but only if the price is right.

The company has previously indicated that it is studying a bid for the business, which was put up for sale to reduce SOS’s high debt levels via Credit Suisse.
A spokesperson for the group told just-food that Ebro’s interest in the business is “continuing”.
However, the spokesperson added: “Our approach is disciplined and any potential deal must make financial sense. The price would have to be right.”
