Spanish food group Ebro Puleva said today (28 April) that its first-quarter profits up by almost a quarter despite an 8% fall in sales.

The company reported a 24% rise in net profit to EUR40m (US$52.9m), even as sales fell 8% to EUR428m and the group upped advertising spend by 9%. EBIT climbed 29% to EUR53.6m.
