Spanish baker Europastry is to open a commercial office in the Netherlands to serve northern European markets, the company said today (14 September).

The company said the Dutch unit would focus on Germany, Belgium and other markets in northern Europe, as the group looks to build its operations outside Spain.

Europastry, which saw its sales climb 10% last year to around EUR360m (US$527m), said it now derives 15% of its revenue from overseas markets.

During the first six months of this year, Europastry saw its exports of frozen doughnuts jump 40% thanks in part to growth in central and northern Europe.
