French prepared salads group Florette has acquired ready-to-eat salad producer Sogesol in a bid to strengthen its position in Spain.
Florette purchased the Murcia-based company for an undisclosed sum. Headquartered in Torre Pacheco in south-eastern Spain, Sogesol sells ready-to-eat salads, with 25% of its production for domestic consumption and the remainder for export to the Gallic country.
Florette said the purchase will allow the firm to expand its presence in Murcia, while also expanding into new market segments in Spain. The company said it will look at the further development of products such as ready-to-eat salads and fruit trays, and vegetables.
Around 260 Sogesol employees will be integrated into Florette’s operations in Spain, the company said.
