Frozen foods manufacturer Alimentos Congelados has revealed that it will cut 52 of the 245 jobs in its plant in Marcilla, Navarre region, north-eastern Spain, as it concentrates on its operations elsewhere in the country.

Speaking yesterday [Thursday] the company said that during a meeting with representatives of the trade unions CCOO and UGT earlier in the week, 50.6% of the staff agreed with the job cuts.


The company’s frozen foods plant in Peralta in Navarre region was closed in 2001 with the loss of 234 jobs as Alimentos Congelados sought to bolster its plants in Badajoz, south-western Spain and Valladolid, northern Spain.
