Spanish pasta company Pastas Gallo has revealed plans to invest in one of its domestic manufacturing plants.

The investment, which is reportedly worth EUR25m (US$34.7m), is expected to double production at the plant in Granollers, near Barcelona, when all facilities are operational. The manufacturing and packaging areas will expand along with an automated warehouse and staff changing rooms.

The group said it aims to maintain food quality and safety of its products, search for new technologies and achieve more reliable and higher yields for greater productivity.

The automatic warehouse will be operational January next year. Long pasta production and packaging will be operational in October next year, and other facilities in the first part of 2013.

There will be no change to the 400 staff employed the Granollers plant, the company said.
