Spanish food company Sos Cuetara has postponed sales of its new Oleosan functional oil to third parties until next year to further develop the product, a company spokesman told just-food.

The company had said Oleosan would sell at least €96m (US$126.8m) between 2004 and 2006. SOS did not include this prediction in its 2004 results forecast, “which will be met,” he added.

“We want the market to better identify Oleosan with the production of healthy biscuits before we fully commercialise it,” the spokesman said. Sos will launch an advertising campaign in April to link Oleosan with its Cuetara cookies.

Sos has also denied reports that it plans to sell its American Rice factory in Freeport, Texas, US.  The plant is “strategic,” the spokesman said.
