SPAIN/UK: Ex-Safeway boss appointed chairman of Ahold’s Spanish unit
Carlos Criado-Perez, former chief executive of UK supermarket chain Safeway, has been appointed chairman of Ahold’s Spanish unit, which is in the process of being sold to private equity firm Permira.
Carlos Criado-Perez, former chief executive of UK supermarket chain Safeway, has been appointed chairman of Ahold’s Spanish unit, which is in the process of being sold to private equity firm Permira.
Once the sale of the business to Permira has been completed, Criado-Perez will serve as executive chairman for 12 to 18 months, reported The Times. The business operates around 600 outlets under banners including SuperSol, HiperSol and CashDiplo.
Criado-Perez departed Safeway when the chain was bought by rival supermarket group Wm Morrison earlier this year.
