Unilever has introduced a new line of premium ice cream in Spain under the Carte d’Or brand.
The new line, called Signature, “represents an innovation in the ice cream market”, a spokesperson for the group told just-food.
“It is inspired by the world of classic pastry. This premium line is directed to a consumer that loves the authentic taste of traditional pastry desserts and would like to enjoy them with new products and formats,” the spokesperson said.
The line has three flavours: Fondant au Chocolat, with pieces of chocolate cake, vanilla sauce swirls and a dark chocolate crunchy topping; Crème Brulee, custard ice cream with pieces of crunchy caramel and caramel sauce; and Apple Crumble: Vanilla ice cream with bits of crumble, apple sauce and topping.
The ice cream comes in a 450 ml format and the RRP is EUR3.50 (US$4.50).
Signature is aimed at an adult audience “mostly couples”, the spokesperson commented. The launch will be supported with PR and marketing efforts at retail and an advertising and communication campaign will begin in 2013.
