Spain-based Vicky Foods is aiming to grow its business in France through the construction of its first production facility in the country.

The company, which makes pastry and baked goods as well as smoothies, salads, spreadables, soups and baby food, said it will invest EUR45m (US$53.9m) in a new 21,100 square-meter facility that is expected to be operational during the last quarter of 2022. Some 100 jobs will be created from the project.

The company, trading as Grupo Dulcesol until 2019, said it hopes to strengthen its presence in the French market, which in 2020 accounted for 36% of its international business volume.

The facility will be used for the production of pastry and baked goods. Vicky Foods said it expects to manufacture more than 14,000 tons of produce there and generate site-linked sales of EUR25m in its first year of operation.

Located in Fragnes-La Loyère in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region, Vicky suggests the new facility will allow it to supply to the French market as well as other neighbouring countries such as Germany, Switzerland and northern Italy.
