Phoenix-based SunTree said Carolina Nut’s North Carolina manufacturing facility was “particularly attractive”. The additional capacity gives SunTree the chance “to serve national retailers wherever their stores are located”, it added.

Phoenix-based SunTree, owned by private-equity firm Satori Capital, mainly produces snack and baking nuts, trail mixes and dried fruit. Its business has an “emphasis” on store brands for retailers.

Carolina Nut, based in Henderson, North Carolina, is a “premium manufacturer of peanuts and snack nuts”, SunTree said. The company has its own brands – Carolina Nut Company and The Peanut Roaster – and manufactures on a private-label basis.

Jeff Vogel, SunTree’s CEO, said: “Carolina Nut is a perfect complement to SunTree on many levels. The additional product offerings, expanded geographic footprint, and new packaging and manufacturing capabilities will expand our product line-up for our customers and provide a larger variety of snacking options for category growth.”
