Matfabriken makes ready-to-eat pasta and sandwiches. Net sales in fiscal 2008 are projected to total EUR10m (US$13.56m), Scan said. The company’s largest customers include ICA, Statoil and SAS.

“Matfabriken operates in a high-growth market and we see much future potential in the group,” a spokesperson for Scan told just-food today (6 October).

The acquisition includes the option to buy the remaining shares in the company at a later date, the spokesperson added.

Scan, which is the Swedish arm of HK Scan, the Scandinavian meat-to-convenience food group, declined to comment on the financial details of the agreement.
