Speaking to just-food, Nestlé spokesman François-Xavier Perroud said he was aware of press reports to this effect, but said “Nestlé has not been in the milk market at all in Greece” over the last two years.
Greek daily newspaper Kathimerini reported today (30 November) that the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) had fined several dairy companies including Nestlé with conspiring to fix prices in the dairy market.
The HCC said last year that there was evidence of anti-competitive behaviour in prices paid by companies to dairy farmers.
Perroud said Nestlé had yet to be officially informed that it has been fined for price-fixing and awaited “official notification from any authorities in Greece that any fine has been demanded”.
