Swiss food giant Nestlé has said it is unconcerned about any future US lawsuits that may claim its products contribute to obesity.

A company spokesman said Nestlé has had an advisory panel of scientists dealing with nutritional issues for more than 20 years, and has also produced low-fat ranges such as Lean Cuisine, reported Dow Jones News.

Some analysts have warned that food companies could become a target for US class action suits, following lawsuits against fastfood giant McDonald’s and class action suits against tobacco companies.

The Nestlé spokesman played down the danger, saying that recent court rulings do not support that view.
