The first of the new branches will be opened in Kaohsiung City this month, followed by an outlet in Shulin in November and one in Chungho in December, according to Lilian Lee, a marketing manager for Carrefour Taiwan.
Lee confirmed earlier comments by Minister of Economic Affairs Lin Yi-fu that Carrefour is planning to invest NT$1bn (US$29.3m) in each new outlet and that the expansion would generate 1,000 jobs, reported the Taipei Times.
