France-based agri-food group Terrena plans to formally merge with two fellow cooperatives – Terrena Poitou and CAM.

Terrena Poitou and CAM were already “autonomous” members of the Terrena co-op but the three entities have decided to put forward plans for a full merger.

Philippe Villain, the president of cereals co-op Terrena Poitou, said: “After 13 years of Terrena Poitou being in Terrena as an autonomous business, we believe it is necessary today to carry out this project in order to be even more efficient on our territories. From a sole cereal activity, we will be able to carry out a more global approach on all the group’s activities.”

CAM, a co-op supplying crops, animal nutrition products and providing agricultural distribution services, has been an autonomous member of Terrena since 2015.

Ivan Leclerc, CAM’s president, said “In a context of agricultural change where competitiveness and innovation are in order, we felt it was important to continue to strengthen our relations after two years of membership of CAM in Terrena. Our objectives are clear: to strengthen our links with our members, to provide an ever more efficient service and above all to create the added value that we lack on our farms.”

Speaking to just-food, a spokesperson for Terrena said it too wanted to “strengthen … our links with our members”, as well as “provide an ever more efficient service and above all create added-value”.
