US agribusiness giant Cargill is investing THB300m (US$10m) in upgrading its poultry processing facility in Saraburi, Thailand, with completion expected for July 2014.

The plant, which produces a range of cooked poultry products for companies across Asia, Europe and North America, will have an upgraded food safety system, more efficient equipment and an expanded range of cold storage capabilities.

“This investment enhances Cargill’s ability to continue to provide our customers with the highest quality products and services,” said Cargill Thailand president Prasit Maekwatana.

“Our customers work each day to meet the changing demands of consumers around the world, and this investment reflects our commitment to help them succeed.”

It comes after Cargill recently completed a $110m expansion of its poultry processing facility in Korat, Thailand. The sites will have a combined annual production capacity of 80,000 metric tons.

Cargill has been operating in Thailand for 45 years and employs around 12,000 people across ten locations.
