US ice cream company Haagen-Dazs is hoping to record a second successive year of 20% growth in Thailand through the opening of new ice cream parlour outlets and expanding its menu.
Sales of Haagen-Dazs products last year in Thailand reached almost Bt200m (US$4.7m), according to Sineenart Sookthavorn, national sales manager of HD Distributor (Thailand), the Thai importer and distributor of Haagen-Dazs ice cream.
After eight years of operation in Thailand, Haagen-Dazs has 17 ice cream parlours there, compared to the 80 parlours operated by rival Swensen’s, reported the Nation.
Approximately 60% of Haagen-Dazs’ customers in Thailand are foreign tourists, but the company aims to attract more local customers through the introduction of new products.
