Thai seafood group Thai Union Frozen is to expand into the tuna fishing arena, the company said today (20 August).
Thai Union, the largest processor of canned and frozen seafood in Thailand, has spent some THB440m (US$12.8m) on acquiring five new businesses to search for and catch fish in the Indian Ocean.
The company said the acquisitions would enable it to buy deep-sea vessels to catch tuna in the Indian Ocean in order to boost its access to the fish and bolster supply.
