Casino’s Thai business Big C has been forced to close stores and distribution centres following the recent floods in the country.

Four mini Big C stores and one hypermarket have had to temporarily close, while the retailer plans to close three distribution centres in the centre of Thailand.

A spokesperson for Casino insisted Big C had sought to try to keep its other stores stocked. Big C operates 106 hypermarkets in the country.

“All items and equipments were moved to the second floor and the distribution centres were moved to four separate sites that the company has prepared to use as temporary cross-docking and distribution stations to continue supplying the stores,” the spokesperson said.

Tesco, meanwhile, has reportedly closed around 25 of its Express outlets and two Talad Lotus branches.
