US pork group The Maschhoffs has appointed food industry veteran Paul Fox to the post of chief operating officer. 

Fox spent 17 years at Tyson Foods and, during his time at the US meat giant, his responsibilities grew to encompass international operations.

After leaving Tyson, Fox he entered the private-equity sector, where he led three corporate turnaround projects as CEO – at Dickinson Frozen Foods, Marfrig’s US unit Marfood USA, and poultry group OK Industries. 
 
Most recently, Fox served as MD of Economic Benefits for the Family Farms Group, where he was responsible for assisting the company’s farmer-members to implement strategies to enhance revenue, reduce costs and scale businesses.
 
At The Maschhoffs, Fox will be responsible for operations across the company’s nine-state footprint, which includes a 218,000-sow breed-to-wean business with an annual production capacity of approximately five million market hogs, the company said.

The Maschhoffs is headquartered in Carlyle, Illinois. The business is one of the largest family-owned hog production networks in North America, partnering with around 550 production partners across the Midwest.
