Trident Seafoods, the US-based seafood processor, has rolled out its first branded products in China.
The company is using two Chinese e-commerce platforms – YiGuo.com and YouPin Food – to market a range of seafood products sold under its namesake brand.
Trident said the deal with YiGuo.com, which specialises in selling fresh food, would, for example, see the processor sell wild Alaska king crab directly to Chinese consumers.
The processor added the agreement with YiGuo.com opens access to three other channels, including Alibaba’s Tmall online supermarket and YiGuo.com’s online flagship store at Tmall.com.
Other products on sale include wild Alaska sockeye salmon portions and wild Alaska smoked salmon. The company indicated it will add to its range of products on sale in China throughout the year. It said the range would “assure Chinese consumers of a steady supply of healthy, safe and delicious seafood products under the Trident Seafoods brand”.
