Leading Tunisian poultry producer El Mazraa has reported a five-fold rise in first-half profits.
The company, which enjoys a market share of 60%, reported net profits worth 1.5m dinars (US$1.2m) in the January – June period, a significant improvement on the 0.3m dinars profit posted in the same period of last year.
Gross turnover improved by 16.4% to 21.7m dinars while cost of sales rose by just 7.4% to 20.3m dinars.
Tunisian poultry consumption has improved on the back of higher red meat prices in the early part of this year.
