Carrefour is reportedly not interested in bidding for Turkish retailer Migros, it emerged today (7 January).
Local conglomerate Sabanci Holding, Carrefour’s local partner, said the two sides had pulled out of the race to buy Migros. Shares in Migros fell some 6% on the news.
Carrefour and Sabanci, which run the Carrefoursa business in Turkey, had been seen as one the front-runners to buy Migros.
Turkish conglomerate Koç Holding is looking for buyers for Migros under plans to exit the retail sector.
Officials at Sabanci and Carrefour could not be reached for comment as just-food went to press.
