Turkish confectioner Kent Gida has posted 2002 net profit of 9.2trn Turkish lira (US$5.6m), compared to a net loss of 17.2trn lira for 2001.

The company’s pre-tax profit for 2002 was 10.7trn lira and its operating profit was 26.1trn lira, compared to operating profit of 27.9trn lira in 2001.
Kent Gida’s domestic sales increased to 77.9trn lira in 2002 from 55.6trn lira for 2001. The company’s exports in 2002 were valued at 47.7trn lira, compared to 49.1trn lira for 2001.
The company has three plants, all in the northwest of the country. Kent Gida has a 70% share of the packaged sugar confectionery market in Turkey, 30% of the chocolate and cocoa products market and 5% of the chewing gum market, reported the Turkish News Digest.
