Citing the ongoing economic crisis, US fastfood behemoth McDonald’s has temporarily closed 18 of its restaurants in Turkey.

Serap Gokcebay, PR and communications manager at McDonald’s Turkey, explained that the crisis meant a fall in consumer demand and purchasing power.
Since opening its first restaurant in Turkey in 1986, McDonald’s has developed a 111-outlet strong chain and employs more than 4,000 workers.
The restaurants, eleven of which were situated in Istanbul, were closed on Wednesday.
