TURKEY: Unilever seeks to consolidate local position despite downturn in consumer spending
Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever has revealed plans to consolidate its position in Turkey during 2001 and 2002, despite the country’s current financial crisis. A senior official from the company revealed that the focus is on the Turkish detergent and food products market, where it will continue to follow its policy of growth despite a substantial downturn in consumer spending power.

A senior official from the company revealed that the focus is on the Turkish detergent and food products market, where it will continue to follow its policy of growth despite a substantial downturn in consumer spending power.
Ahter Kutatgu, from the company’s management board, revealed that Unilever aims to maintain its current sales volumes until at least the end of this year.
