UK snacks maker Tyrrells is to enter the popcorn market in France with its relaunched Poshcorn brand.
Tyrrells already sells crisps in France and the country its largest export market. France will be the latest market for Poshcorn, which hit UK shelves earlier this month after Tyrrells changed its name from Proper Popcorn.
"We have established a premium, hand cooked crisps category in France and hope to replicate this success with our new Poshcorn range. Tyrrells has played a key part in creating the sharing ready-to-eat premium popcorn category, with the British appetite for premium popcorn leading to 32% MAT growth in the popcorn segment," the company said in a statement, citing Nielsen data for February.
Tyrrells officials could not be reached for further comment on the reasons for the name change and relaunch in the UK.
All four flavours in the Poshcorn range – Salted; Sweet & Salty; Lemon Cupcake; and Coconut & Caramel – will be sold in France, where Tyrrells has secured listings with independent retailers.
