Nestle today (9 December) opened a new US$136m factory in Dubai, specialising in manufacturing Kit Kat chocolate.
The Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Saeed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, officially inaugurated the factory in Dubai TechnoPark.
The new facility, which was previously home to Nestle’s Regional Microbiological Laboratory, will now be used to manufacture brands including Nido powder milk, Kit Kat chocolate and Pure Life bottled water.
Nestle CEO Paul Bulcke said: “By opening our new facility in Dubai – our regional headquarters – we will be closer to our consumers in the region and can better adapt our products to their needs and preferences.”
Yves Manghardt, chairman and CEO of Nestle Middle East, said: “With such a facility we will be able to meet the fast rising regional demand and eventually contemplate exporting to other regions.”
