Boparan Holdings Limited, the holding company for 2 Sisters Food Group, has acquired Vion’s poultry and red meat processing businesses in the UK.

Announcing the deal, the company said it secures a “viable future” for Vion’s businesses, which were put on the block after the Dutch group decided to exit the market and focus on its core domestic operations.

2 Sisters added the move will help it meet “growing demand” from its existing poultry business as well as diversifying its offering to include red meat products.

The deal includes 11 UK processing sites, which employ 6,000 people.

2 Sisters CEO Ranjit Singh said that Vion’s businesses have suffered in the face of “significant uncertainty and tough trading”.

“This acquisition will safeguard a key supply chain for high quality British poultry and meat, offering reassurance to farmers in England, Scotland and Wales and upholding the quality and provenance that UK customers and consumers deserve,” he added.
