2 Sisters said in May it had put forward plans to make 193 staff redundant at the facility.

However, strikes at the plant had forced the company to move production of pizza toppings to another site to ensure the affected facility could contain to supply customers, it said today. The company has now decided to make the change permanent.

“As a result, and reflecting our need to be able to have continuous production, we have regrettably proposed an additional number of redundancies at Leicester. We have briefed our employees on this move and will continue to work with employee representatives and unions,” 2 Sisters told just-food.

The additional proposed cuts will not lead to an extension of the consultation period 2 Sisters started when it announced its initial plans to make 193 staff redundant.
