Associated British Foods has taken its Ryvita brand into the chilled foods category in the UK.

The company has teamed up with Buckingham Foods to launch Ryvita Lunch Packs. The products comprise four Ryvita Dark Rye Crispbreads, a plastic spreading knife and one of three toppings: Scottish smoked salmon and cucumber; goat’s cheese and red pepper; and egg mayonnaise and cress.

“The launch of the Ryvita Lunch Pack is particularly exciting as it will really help to make our consumers life easier by providing everything needed for a Ryvita lunch on the go, as well as introducing the brand to a whole new set of customers,” Carol Flint, head of brand at Ryvita, said.

“Ryvita is perfectly placed to tap into the long-term trend for health in this category by offering a convenient, nutritionally balanced lunch option.”

The lunch packs are available in Sainsbury’s stores across the UK with an RRP of GBP2.50 (US$4.02).

Ryvita claims the lunch packs are made with “all natural ingredients”, are low in fat and contain no artificial colours or flavourings.
