Associated British Foods is to close its Patak’s factory in Scotland at the end of March with the loss of 60 jobs.

The UK-based food giant bought Patak’s, an Indian cuisine business, in May.

A company spokesman said ABF had begun a period of consultation with affected employees at the site in the Scottish town of Dundee.

He added: “The company would like to stress that this decision has not been taken lightly and that prior to this decision, it explored a number of options in an attempt to maintain the production at the site.”
