The introduction of Alpro Light yogurt follows the successful 2006 launch of Alpro Light reduced-calorie soya milk.

“Dieting is still important to consumers, but their outlook has changed quite dramatically in recent years,” said John Allaway, Alpro’s commercial director. “Consumers no longer want faddy and extreme, ‘get thin quick’ diets but rather want to achieve good health through the consumption of products which have wider health benefits such as soya.”

The Light yoghurts will be available in four 125g packs containing two raspberry and blackberry, and two pineapple and passionfruit varieties.

The yogurts will be available initially in Tesco and Waitrose at GBP1.59 (US$3.14) and the launch will be supported by a high-profile marketing campaign.
