The buyout of Arla Foods-owned Claymore Dairies by management at the Nairn facility has been completed.

The company confirmed today (3 February) that the takeover, which will see Arla transfer some of the retail milk volume from Claymore to Lockerbie, is now complete.

“It has all gone according to plan,” a spokesperson for Arla Foods told just-food.

As part of the deal, Arla will switch some of its production to Lockerbie and open a distribution hub in Dundee to service its Highland customers. This will result in the loss of around 65 dairy jobs.

Lars Dalsgaard, Arla’s supply chain business group director, said last month that the site had been under review for some time and than an MBO “was the best solution for all parties”.
