Arla Foods is planning to extend the blowmoulding facility at its Stourton dairy in Leeds to cater to increased demand for its Cravendale milk range.
The GBP6.7m (US$10.6m) joint venture with blowmoulding specialist Logoplaste will mean Arla will extend its onsite blowmoulding facility to accommodate a new, Cravendale bottle blowmoulding machine, to complement the two existing ones.
The expansion will allow the dairy to boost production at the Stourton site by 50m litres by allowing further processing capacity to be used.
The extension is on track to be completed in December and the new blowmoulder will be operational in March.
Sam Dolan, Cravendale brand manager, said: “Cravendale has doubled in value in the last four years. Since its launch 12 years ago we have recently topped the 200m-litre milestone and expect value sales to exceed GBP166m by the end of the year.”
