Asda, the UK’s number two retailer, has promoted Jon Owen to the role of marketing director – advertising and strategy.
The company said he will take responsibility for UK advertising, customer insight and pricing teams with immediate effect.

“Jon has made a fantastic contribution to the business since joining the Asda marketing team as head of research in February 2005. He is well regarded across the Wal-Mart world, both for his marketing acumen, and his ability to manage teams,” said Rick Bendel, the company’s chief marketing officer.
“Jon was instrumental in the creation of the Mysupermarket campaign and was one of the original thinkers behind the Asda Price Guarantee.”
Owen replaces Mark Sinnock who has chosen to leave the business to pursue his career beyond Asda, the company said.
