John Lewis Partnership executive Richard Mayfield will join Asda as its new chief financial officer this summer, the company has revealed.
Mayfield will replace Judith McKenna, who was promoted to chief operating officer at the supermarket operator in September 2011.
He has worked at John Lewis Partnership since 2002, where he currently serves as director of the shared services division, responsible for financial, information technology, HR and procurement services for the group.
“Richard brings a tremendous track record as one of Britain’s most talented finance directors to his new role. But more than that, because he understands, as we do, that we’re a business where people make the difference, I’m sure he’ll make a significant contribution around the board table,” Asda CEO Andy Clarke commented.
Asda’s acting CFO, Rob McWilliam, will take on the “broader role” of strategy director at Asda’s parent-company Wal-Mart, the company added.
