Asda has denied reports that the Office of Fair Trading is requiring it to sell some 30 of the Netto stores it acquired in May.

An Asda spokesperson said that the UK retailer is currently working with the OFT but insisted that no conclusions have been reached yet.

She added that the company “wants to run as many as it’s allowed” and said Asda “is not expecting any recommendations [from the body] until later in the summer”.

Asda paid GBP778m (US$1.24bn) for the 193 outlets in May this year.
