Asda has decided to repeat over Christmas an offer it ran this autumn to give certain consumers GBP5 (US$7.77) off their next GBP40 shop.
Shoppers that successfully check their GBP40-plus receipt on Asda’s online “price guarantee” website will receive a GBP5 voucher to redeem against their next GBP40 shop.
The GBP5 “Christmas bonus” will be given out between 25 November and 11 December. The vouchers must be used by 15 January.
Asda’s first GBP5 bonus scheme was launched last month. The retailer said it was the “most successful” campaign so far for its Asda Price Guarantee, which compares a consumer’s grocery shopping against the company’s rivals. If a grocery basket as Asda is not 10% cheaper, the retailer gives consumers the difference.
The retailer said its data showed UK disposable income would be GBP8 a week lower in December when compared to a year before. Asda said the GBP5 bonus and the price guarantee represented “the most powerful price commitment in the industry”.
Yesterday, Tesco announced plans to cut prices on 1,000 more products in the UK as part of its strategy to attract Christmas shoppers.
