Speciality vinegar maker Aspall has revamped its range of upmarket vinegars amid what the company sees as growing demand for the products in dressings, sauces and marinades.

The UK firm, which also makes a range of cider and apple juice lines for the drinks sector, said it had spent GBP750,000 on the range and on the installation of a new bottling line.

The new range replaces Aspall’s current line of products and includes three new SKUs: a malt variant and two “single-varietal wine vinegars” – cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc. The 11-strong range hits Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose next month.

Aspall commercial director Geoff Bradman said consumers wanted more suggestions on how to use vinegar and also wanted bottles that could be displayed in kitchens.

“The vinegar market has huge potential, both in terms of the product’s versatility as a recipe ingredient and its growing appeal to consumers. The whole of the Aspall business has worked incredibly hard in getting the new range ready for market,” Bradman said.
