Bakkavor has said its UK salad and prepare vegetables arm Wingland Foods is to expand production, creating up to 200 jobs.
The UK-based private-label supplier said Wingland, which employs around 350 staff, was extending production and warehousing to “support the growth” of retail customer Waitrose. The expansion is set to be completed in April.
Bakkavor has reshaped its business in recent years. In the last 12 months, it has offloaded its operations in France and Spain and closed its plant in Canada.
Last March, it closed a UK business, English Village Salads, after losing a contract with Asda.
In August, Bakkavor reported a jump in first-half profits on the back of higher sales and the proceeds from the deals in France and Spain.
