Under the deal, workers are expected to have a 3% pay hike this year, followed by another 3% rise next year.

The employees at the site in Blackpool rejected the same offer from Burton’s on 13 August. A spokesperson for Bakers Food & Allied Workers Union then described the 6% deal as a “good offer” and one that the workers should have accepted.

Last month, workers rejected a 1.5% increase and voted to strike as a result. However, industrial action was called off after Burton’s and union officials decided to discuss the issue.

A spokesperson for Burton’s said today (31 August) that the company was “pleased” the workers had now accepted the offer.

“We have worked collaboratively with BFAWU representatives throughout the process to reach an agreement and we feel the revised package is a fair and reasonable settlement,” the spokesperson said.
