The Foundation is a charity that works under an official agreement with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry to conserve orangutans and their ecosystem.

“Orangutans are truly magnificent creatures, but over the last century the population has decreased by over 90% due to the destruction of their natural habitat and worst of all poaching. One of the main threats to the survival of the orangutan is the increasing demand for Palm Oil, which is found in many everyday products including soap, chocolate, ice cream and mass produced crisps. Rainforest is being destroyed at an alarming rate to make way for oil palm plantations and the orangutan is suffering greatly as a result,” explained Jonty White.

Five of the company’s flavours will be packed in the special animal bags, including Lightly Sea Salted, Salt & Vinegar, Salt & Black Pepper, Mature Cheddar and Hot Chilli & Lemon.  Each pack will tell the story of the orangutans and will bear the logo of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation.

Jonty continued: “The plight of the orangutans is at a critical stage and everyone at Burts wanted to do something to raise awareness of the work of the BOS and help to drum up support.”
