The board of UK hotel group InterContinental has said it has appointed Andrew Cosslett from confectionery and beverages group Cadbury Schweppes as its new chief executive.

Cosslett has been president of Cadbury’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations for the past two years. He has held various other senior positions with Cadbury Schweppes since 1990, including managing director of Great Britain and Ireland and CEO of the Asia Pacific confectionery business. Cosslett previously worked in brand marketing at Unilever between 1979 and 1990.
