UK confectionery and soft drinks giant Cadbury Schweppes has said its full-year trading performance would be similar to the first half, but warned that the hot weather had hit its confectionery sales in Europe.

Cadbury, which makes Dairy Milk chocolate and Dr Pepper soft drinks, said in July that its underlying earnings fell 4% in the first half.

The company traditionally aims for double-digit earnings growth, but abandoned the targets for a while when it bought US chewing gum maker Adams for US$4.2bn in March.
