The product, which is called “A Healthy Alternative to Cheese”, contains a natural ingredient that stops cholesterol from getting into the body.

The “cheese”, which looks and tastes similar to mild cheddar, is made from milk which has had its dairy fat removed and replaced with a vegetable oil that is high in plant sterols. These sterols block off special receptor sites, preventing cholesterol from entering the blood stream.

UK supermarket chain Tesco is selling the product, which is made by craftsmen from a West Country Farmhouse cheese maker, reported BBC Online.
