It is suspected that bread produced at the Allied Bakeries production facility in Orpington, Kent, is being sabotaged.

The company has said that there have been an unspecified number of complaints from the public regarding foreign objects in Kingsmill bread. Police, who have been investigating the problem, have found three further incidents of alleged malicious tampering, involving glass and a needle. The objects were found in the packaging of Kingsmill, not embedded in the bread itself.

The Orpington bakery distributes Allied breads to retailers in the south east.
